Network Spinal Analysis (NSA), also known as Network Chiropractic or Network Care, is a soft touch, innovative and holistic chiropractic model developed in the early 1980s by Dr. Donald Epstein.
Network Spinal Analysis chiropractic focuses on reducing tension in the nervous system and in creating long term upgraded strategies for brain-body communication. This is accomplished through the application of light touch contacts to specific points along the spine, called spinal gateways, especially in the upper neck (cervical) and lower spine (sacral) regions. We call this process an Entrainment as it differs from traditional chiropractic adjustments in that no force is used to correct spinal misalignments.
An entrainment reduces nervous system tension and improves the flow of energy through spinal nerves that communicate with muscles and organs. Muscle tension releases and spinal bones move back into place on their own. With continued care, your nervous system develops new strategies for healing during the entrainment. This involves an integration between the brain, breath and muscle movements and are called Respiratory and Network Healing Waves. These waves effectively rock the vertebrae back into proper alignment as well as encourage a sense of greater well-being.
There are three distinct levels of care with NSA:
Level one of care helps you develop greater body awareness, improved function and posture. You start to feel better physically and emotionally. In this level of care we look for the generation of a Respiratory wave, a full spine breathing rhythm that flows from your tail bone to the base of your skull during the entrainment.
Level two of care is where you transform chronic stress patterns. Posture and spinal curves continue to improve, you feel better, manage stress more efficiently and become better at hearing the subtle cues of your body. This level of care is where the Network Healing Wave develops, a series of rhythmic spinal muscle movements associated with a spontaneous release of spinal and life tensions.
In level three of care you become more integrated in mind, body and spirit, feel more at peace and experience a deep sense of overall well-being.
You feel and experience more deeply how your life is part of a greater whole. In this level of care, your nervous system is much more efficient in how it deals with stress. There is an opening of the “third oscillator”, the heart-brain as a new nervous system pattern generator. This emerging oscillator creates tremendous positive change for the mind, body and spiritual connections.
Network Spinal Analysis care has been well researched and is responsible for the largest study ever conducted on chiropractic outcomes, A Retrospective Assessment of Network Care Using a Survey of Self-Rated Health, Wellness and Quality of Life. Blanks RH, Schuster TL, Dobson M. Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, 1997; 1(4) p15-31).
In this study of over 2,000 Network patients from 156 offices in the U.S. and abroad, seventy six percent (76%) of the patients studied reported improved wellness in all categories assessed: physical, mental, emotional, stress response, life enjoyment and overall quality of life.
